Tivives House
Playa Tivives, Puntarenas Costa Rica 2007 – 2009
Casa Tivives is a house of the sea, by the sea and for the sea. It is born like the sea breeze, during the day the breeze crosses its open spaces and at night the house is relieved by the sea blowing.
The layout of the property, elongated towards the northeast-southwest sea, proposed a kind of wind tunnel as a bio-climatic response to a hostile, hot and humid climate. The house opens completely towards the sea and with reduced and controlled air outlets on the main entrance, the wind accelerates its course causing a fresh feeling all day.
The air conditioning is there, but it is not necessary, it is like being in an open campsite. The water connects the sea from its entrance to end its journey in an infinity pool that is lost on the horizon. Aligned to the southwest, the sun never hits inside, its side walls protect its interior and the wooden pergola filters the light like a tree on the seashore. Casa Tivives is a house of the sea, by the sea and for the sea.
